Pet Relocation Services

Relocating abroad is a big upheaval especially for pets and the logistics of moving animals overseas can be a lengthy and costly experience. Requirements and regulations for allowing pets will vary from country to country and moving dogs and cats is far easier than small mammals or more exotic creatures. It is always recommended you check up to date guidelines for your destination country and start your pet moving process as early as possible as vaccinations, import permits and certificates can be a lengthy process.

Europe

Moving dogs and cats within Europe is easiest, though they will still need their own pet passport. Your pet must be microchipped, have had a rabies vaccination and all dogs must be treated for tapeworm. Animals flying to their destination country must also have a “Fit to Fly” certificate, signed by an authorised vet, as near to the flight date as possible.

UAE, US and Australia

Relocating further a field with your pet can be more complicated and flying with snub nosed breeds such as pugs, Shih Tzus and Persians is sometimes prohibited so always check with your airline before booking your animal on board. Some airlines will let smaller cats and dogs in the cabin but most will transport your pet in a pressurised animal cargo hold and airlines do operate weather embargoes so again, check with your airline before making any arrangements.

To relocate a pet to the UAE you will need to obtain an import permit from the Ministry of Agriculture. The animal will need to have up to date vaccinations, a veterinary certificate, and have all the correct documentation before it is granted a permit.

America operates regulations for the importation of pets on a state by state basis, but rabies vaccinations are usually required and look out for weather embargoes over the summer and winter months.

Australia allows the import of dogs, cats and horses but other small animals are prohibited, so this is worth considering if your kids have a hamster, rabbit or guinea pig. That said some dog breads are prohibited and animals must be in quarantine for 30 days from import from the UK.
