Moving House in the Summer

Moving House in the Summer

Our Top Tips

The days are hotting up and summer finally seems to be here. Even though you can never bank on the good old Great British weather, if you are moving and concerned about the heat, then here are our tips for surviving a roasting hot move day!

Keep Hydrated

Regardless of whether you are moving house or not, keeping hydrated is our top tip when out and about in the heat. Dehydration can lead to headaches and tiredness and no one want to feel ill when they have the added stresses of moving home. Make sure you are taking in lots of fluids and keep some water bottles to hand throughout the day.

Pack a Cool Box

You will have already defrosted your freezer by move day so make sure you have a cool box nearby packed with fruit, ice pops and energy drinks. These will help keep you cool when the temperature starts soaring.

Sun Cream Up!

Make sure you haven’t packed your sun cream. You will be spending the whole day popping in and out the house so make sure you keep reapplying it throughout the move. It is also a good idea to wear a hat to protect your face and neck too.

Stay in the shade

Try and stay inside the shade of your new home as much as possible and keep the breeze blowing by opening all the windows and doors. If you are lucky enough to have air conditioning then get this cranked up too. You never know when the weather will start changing though so still make sure you get the details of how to use your new boiler!

Make Plans for the Kids

Whatever the weather we always recommend you ask someone to look after your children (and animals) on move day. It is safer and easier for everyone if they are having a fun day away from the stresses of moving home.  If they are at home then make sure sun hats, sun cream and your pet’s water bowls are all accessible on the day.

Avoid the Packing

When the weather starts heating up the last thing you want to do is to spend the run up to your move day indoors packing and moving boxes around. Ask your surveyor about our packing services and save yourself any further pre move stress. All our teams are expertly trained in packing and we even supply all the packing materials and boxes to get your valuables safely moved to their new home.

Wherever or whenever you are moving our teams are on hand with full packing and wrapping services to help keep the heat off during your move. Call us today to book a survey.
