Moving to Australia: A Case Study

Moving to Australia: A Case Study

A family of four from Glasgow contacted Clockwork when the father, a Professor at Glasgow University, was offered a professorship at La Trobe University in Melbourne and they needed to move to Australia.  The family had originally planned to move into their new home in Melbourne on 17th January 2011, but after selling their award-winning home to a cash buyer after only 10 days on the market (unusual in these depressed times), they unexpectedly found themselves having to move out of their house within 30 days.

Clockwork moved fast to clear the house on schedule, while still making available personal items such as the children’s school clothes for their remaining days at their Glasgow school. All other items were export packed and put into storage for 4 months, with more items added before the family left UK in August for a holiday in the USA en-route to their new life in Melbourne.

The families dedicated international move manager has stayed in touch with the family while they have been on their holiday, liaising closely with them throughout September and October 2010 on all details and updates of their move. Essentially, Clockwork have tied in shipping schedules to ensure their 40ft storage container will dock in Melbourne on 3rd January 2011. Taking into account the holiday period – everything is scheduled for delivery over the 17th & 18th January 2010 – the day the family will move into their new home.
