Case Study: St. Pancras London, Autograph Collection

Case Study: St. Pancras London, Autograph Collection

Project Overview

St. Pancras London, Autograph Collection, formerly known as the St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel, is one of London’s most iconic luxury destinations. The hotel frequently hosts high-profile events, corporate functions, and photo shoots creating a need for discreet and highly efficient internal furniture moves.

Much of the work our North London team carries out focuses on The Hansom, the hotel’s celebrated cocktail bar, often described as the ultimate destination bar in King’s Cross. Depending on the event, we either move selected pieces or clear the full bar to accommodate larger functions. The hotel’s expansive lobby also requires careful furniture relocations for events, while bedroom and suite moves, including the prestigious Presidential Suite, support photoshoots or temporary reconfigurations. For longer-term moves, furniture is carefully wrapped to maintain its condition and cleanliness.

All of our work is carried out with minimal disruption to guests, often overnight, ensuring that the hotel can operate smoothly around our presence. Furniture moved from public areas is often re-purposed elsewhere in the hotel or returned to its original location once an event concludes.

Planning

Every project begins with careful planning. Although much of the work is recurring, each move is assessed individually based on the specific event or photoshoot requirements. The foreman conducts a thorough site assessment, carries out a risk evaluation, and briefs the team before any work begins. This ensures that every furniture relocation is executed safely, quietly, and efficiently.

We also consider equipment needs, typically relying on dollies, sack barrows and other standard lifting aids. Larger or awkward items, such as lobby tables, require particular attention to navigate safely through corridors and public areas. Because most work is overnight, all logistics, access, and protective measures are pre-planned to reduce the need for management intervention during the move.

Project Challenges

Working within a historic, Grade I-listed building presents unique challenges. Protecting furniture and the property is always a priority, as is maintaining a quiet, discreet presence around paying guests. Overnight moves demand strict timing and coordination, with no office support immediately on hand.

To meet these challenges, our teams operate like a well-oiled machine. Highly experienced crew members are trained to anticipate and resolve issues on the spot, ensuring that even complex moves, from clearing the full Hansom bar to rearranging suites for photoshoots, are completed seamlessly. Crew sizes typically range from two to six members, adjusted according to the scale and complexity of the job.

Through careful planning, expertise, and a focus on discretion, we help St. Pancras London transform its spaces for events, photoshoots, and special functions, all while maintaining a flawless experience for their guests.
