According to research by estate agent Hatched, who ranked British sport’s stadiums by average house price in their postcode, living near a golf course has a more positive effect on your house price than any other sporting venue. Houses around the UK’s golf courses cost on average £419,446 double the national house price average.
Race courses are second on the list. Houses around race tracks costing approximately £362,000 and homes around Sandown Park in Surrey are the most expensive of all coming in at around £1 million.
Lord’s cricket ground is the individual venue which can boast the highest house prices for its neighbours. House prices next to the “home of cricket” are on average a whopping £1.4 million. Stamford Bridge, Chelsea FC’s ground was the highest ranked football stadium. They boast neighbours with a £1.2 million average house price.
You would think the thought of thousands of people walking past your home on a Saturday may have a negative effect on your house price. In fact it is the opposite. According to the Hatched report the larger the stadium capacity the higher the house price. Those homes next to premier division football grounds were 84% higher than those neighbouring third division grounds.
