University of West London
Following competitive tendering, Clockwork Removals were selected to relocate the library from the Learning Resource Centre (LRC) for the University of West London (formerly known as Thames Valley University).
Core Requirement
• Sequential packing, transporting and unpacking of 1,100 linear metres of library collections.
• Dismantling, moving and reassembling all library racking/shelving so books could be re-housed at the new facility.
• Dismantling and moving all library furniture (library tables/chairs/workstations).
Clockwork’s Solution
Our project team attended meetings with all key people at University of West London to formulate a comprehensive move plan. The following points were organised at the meeting:
• Logistics details
• Health & Safety
• Route and Access Points
• Crew allocation and resourcing including details about the move management team, their responsibilities and the escalation process.
• Interfiling and Integration
Crates were catalogued using our specialist cataloguing strategy which corresponded to the agreed reorganisation plan that the University of West London required.
Library collections were sequentially packed and held in a holding area, while library racking and furniture was transported and reassembled at the new facility.
Once the racking was ready, library collections were delivered and unpacked by our operatives.
Result
The reorganisation was managed within budget and within the allocated time. Following this move, we now carry out regular work for University of West London.
